FY2016 Budget Ask for Sexual and Domestic Violence Services
March 23, 2015
An additional $6.134 million in funds for sexual and domestic violence services will make a significant difference in the ability of local programs to respond to and meet the needs in their communities. Specifically, it will 1) finally restore the funding cuts from FY2009 for sexual assault, including culturally specific services for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Queer and Transgender and immigrant communities, and batterer’s intervention programs; 2) increase capacity for community based domestic violence services of another advocate per 100,000 individuals across Massachusetts; and 3) support medical accompaniment by a rape crisis advocate in the Berkshires, south shore and northeast regions.
