JDI Members Legislative Advocacy Day
March 21, 2017
JDI's Legislative Advocacy Day convenes individuals from member programs across the state every year to influence the budget and legislative decisions that directly affect the work they do and the survivors in their communities. Participants meet with State Representatives and Senators to remind them of the importance of their support for sexual and domestic violence funding and programs.
This year, JDI is advocating for two budget line items that will maintain level services across the state, and expand life-saving programs for survivors. Read more here.
JDI also has a comprehensive legislative agenda that addresses a range of issues that impact sexual and domestic violence survivors uniquely, but are not all specifically SA/DV bills. The range represents a broader view of policy efforts to address social and economic justice and support all survivors and those who experience injustice and oppression. Read more about the legislative agenda here.
JDI's top three bill priorities include the Safe Communities Act, a Campus Sexual Assault bill, and a bill to protect private healthcare information (PATCH). Read more about JDI supported bills here.
