Greetings from JDI Dec 2017
Accounts of sexual harassment and assaults fill the airwaves and social media feeds. Each of the recent mass shootings has a connection to intimate partner violence. Hundreds of people contact local sexual and domestic violence programs throughout Massachusetts every single day.
It’s clear that our work is needed now more than ever.
Jane Doe Inc. has been shining a light on the truth of what survivors and advocates have been saying for over a hundred years - from the early abolitionists to today's millennials. The widespread reality of multiple forms of gender-based violence demands a response equal in power and intensity.
With your support, we will make exponential gains through our current strategies and initiatives to address the root causes of violence, to put an end to victim-blaming, and to foster responses and services that reflect the diverse lived experiences of anyone impacted by violence.
This past year, we deepened our commitment to our growing grassroots movement by engaging in dynamic conversations with all our stakeholders about the intersections of race and gender. JDI trained hundreds of advocates on best practices regarding prevention, technology safety, immigration and more. Through the JDI Initiative for Safety and Justice, funded with major support from the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation, we focused on the impact of trauma and oppression on individuals, organizations and whole communities who experience and bear witness to violence every single day. Our Strengthening HealthCare Collaborations Project has helped improve health care response to sexual and domestic violence. Our upcoming prevention summit will build on the White Ribbon Day Campaign’s mobilization of thousands of men and boys across Massachusetts to #ReimagineManhood who took concrete actions in their communities to counter toxic masculinity and prevent violence.
We do this work in partnership with our membership of nearly 60 sexual and domestic violence programs from the Cape to the Berkshires. Connecting deeply with people in every sector across Massachusetts, such as business, health care, sports, philanthropy and government, we've shared the mission of Jane Doe and what it's like to work every day to envision a world built on gender equity, racial justice and safety for all.
At Jane Doe, we strive to find solutions to these issues, by educating, advocating and innovating for change. None of this would be possible without your generous support.
We hope you will join our growing philanthropic community and give any amount today.Thank you!
For peace, healing, safety and justice,
Debra J. Robbin, Ed.M.
